Multicultural marketing (also known as ethnic marketing or cross-cultural marketing) is the practice of marketing to one or more audiences of a specific ethnicity, typically an ethnicity outside of a country's majority culture, which is sometimes called the "general market."

Typically, multicultural marketing takes advantage of the ethnic group's different cultural referents such as; language, traditions, celebrations, religion and any other concepts, to communicate to and persuade that audience.

The reasons for multicultural advertising People tend to live within their cultural boundaries; i.e., people have their own cultural values and norms, which influence the way

they think, feel and act.

People in a particular ethnic group tend to share the language, customs, values, and social views, and these influence people’s cognitive (beliefs and motives), affective (emotion and attitude) and behavioral (purchase and consumption) processes.

Based on this notion of “advertising as a mirror,” cultural values and standards are implanted in ads in such a way that consumers can “see themselves” and identify with the characters in the ads and feel affinity with the brands.

Multicultural marketing can have a positive influence on "mainstream" marketing in a variety of ways: Innovation:

Charting a multicultural marketing strategy goes beyond identifying communications programs and promotions tailored to these markets.

Multicultural marketing is an engine for innovation.

Growth: If multicultural segments are growing at higher rates than the general population, it implies that they are also consuming most products at higher rates than the rest

Globalization: Once a corporation acknowledges the value of multicultural marketing and begins investing in research and development of products and new marketing capabilities, these can be leveraged in the global environment.

Skills required

It is suggested that the following skills are required in the field of multicultural marketing.

1.To spot patterns that allow subcultures to be grouped together, so that a common marketing strategy may be extended to several subcultures in a group (“transcultural” marketing)

2.To develop a distinct marketing strategy for each subculture, if there is a significantly distinct cultural dimension that is

important to the specific culture (multicultural marketing)

3.To further segment audiences in a subculture, if needed, in terms of cultural affinity, cultural identity or acculturation level

(tactical adaptation within a subculture)

4.To develop parameters of culturally acceptable marketing stimuli; and

5.To establish a protocol for measuring cultural effectiveness of the stimuli.

Creating a multicultural marketing strategy

Multicultural marketing focuses on customizing messaging and marketing channels for each target group, as opposed to simply

translating a general message into different languages, or including token representation of different ethnic groups in imagery.

Multicultural marketing is also complicated by the degree of mainstream cultural assimilation within ethnic groups themselves.

Some segments, such as recent immigrants, may highly prefer use of their mother tongue, have limited proficiency in the local language, and be highly geographically concentrated.

Other groups, such as second-generation individuals born in the new homeland, may be bicultural but have less proficiency in their parent's mother tongue and be more geographically dispersed.

An ethnic marketing strategy is developed around the values and attitudes distinctive to a particular ethnic group, and generally includes the following aspects:

Identification and collaboration with community leaders

The promotion of culture, symbols and celebrations important to a precise target Enhancing and focusing on the cultural uniqueness of ethnic group

1) Understand cultural differences in communication patterns, values, and behavior in the target ethnicities.

2) Assess cultural affinity among ethnic audiences.

3) Segment the ethnic audiences based on the level of cultural affinity.

4) Evaluate the need for adjustments in strategy and tactics.

5) Explore culturally acceptable/unacceptable, sensitive/insensitive advertising messages among the identified segments.

6) Develop the most effective and efficient advertising tactics targeted to the identified segments.

7) Evaluate the effectiveness of advertising campaigns among different target segments. This process is also known as ethnic marketing.

Pioneers Pioneers in the field of multicultural marketing include Madam C. J. Walker, African-American businesswoman, hair care

entrepreneur,Procter and Gamble, Mc Donald's,Pepsi cola and Benetton, and the entrepreneur Francesco Costa with My Own Media and ISI

Holding in the foreigner services sector, Joseph Assaf with Ethnic Business Awards, Alan M. Powell CEO of AP & Associates

ITS TIME TO REMOVE YOUR SUPERWOMAN CAPE

I am so priviledged to be connected with some great people.

Juniques MultiCultural Connections ( www.jusmcc.org

I am glad to share this insightful and helpful information from a dynamic leader in the Arizona!!

"The moment you think that you know it all and can do it all on your own, is the moment you give up your opportunity to change lives. But worry not, what you refuse to do, others will gladly take your spot!" -- Felicia Davis

Hi rickey johnson!

Wouldn't it be nice to have someone in your life that you trust completely enough to let your guard down and tell them what's really going on -- especially during the times when you're struggling or feeling anxiety about something that you need to get done?  Or even better yet -- what if you had someone who is so jazzed up about what you're doing and where you're going that they're introducing you to others -- even when you're not around. Wouldn't that be oh so grand....

I attended a meeting this morning hosted by my friend and colleague Dr. Joel Martin. She hosts a monthly forum called Conversation on Leadership (COL) which is an intimate gathering of community leaders making their mark in their own way. I am very selective on the networking meetings that I attend because I place a premium on my time and I can only afford to spend time where I can add value and/or receive value - this is true for me both personally and professionally. Personally, if I'm not having fun or feeling a true connection, I try to add more of what I want but if the connection still isn't there, I move on. Life is too short to operate any other way.

What I really love about COL is that it's different. It's designed to be our time to focus on us and what we can do to take our work to the next level. There is absolutely no room for ego or titles to get in the way of us disarming, learning and getting the support we need from our learning partners. Today's session was facilitated by Dr. Robin Postel and she did an awesome job leading us through a change process that allowed us to get unhooked from a challenge in order to move forward powerfully with our work. I learned a lot and as usual, left our meeting feeling whole, complete and fully embraced by a group of like-minded leaders who place a premium on sowing seeds into their own development knowing that it is the ONLY way that we can do this work and have it be life-shifting. I'm also excited that Dr. Joel is one of many thought-leaders who will be leading an upcoming discussion with the members of The Emerge Leaders' Circle.

jpegAfter leaving our meeting, I immediately thought about a book that I read a few years ago by Keith Ferrazzi called Who's Got Your BackIt's a fabulous book that teaches the concept of building lifeline relationships. These are the people with whom you can really count on, open up to and share your fears and your failures while asking for help without worrying about being judged. These are also the very same people with whom you can share your goals and dreams with and they will be your guideposts, helping to lift you up and watch your back as you make your way over the top.

I especially love the book because it helps to disarm you just enough to realize that even as an expert in your domain of excellence, Superwoman is a myth and you do not or will not have all the answers. At some point, you'll have to realize that the best of you comes from a co-creation of the wisdom, guidance and tough love that your lifeline partners give you. The problem is that some people seldom get to a place where we ask for help - the support that we need to move forward. Why? Fear...fear of being seen as weak, incompetent, unable to play at the same level or simply not meeting the expectations of those who are expecting big things from you. This has such a crippling effect that we become immobilized, stuck and often paralyzed by our own actions or lack thereof.

The book suggest four reasons why lifeline relationships are necessary:

1. To help us get in agreement with ourselves about how we define success on an 'individual' level.
2. To develop a plan to get us there with strategies that are inclusive of both lifeline and strategic partners.
3. To identify and make a commitment on what we will stop doing and say no to in order to move forward.
4. To surround ourselves with people who have our best interest at heart. These are the people who are going to give it to us real, raw and relevant so that we can transform our lives from great to remarkable!

The first month of 2013 is behind us and now is the perfect time to start developing your own lifeline relationships. You need to know who's got your back and who's back you will have. If you haven't already, figure out who you want in this innermost circle of your life, have a direct conversation about your intention, develop some specific actions that will guide your newfound partnerships (this is also the what signals to you that it's working) and get busy creating the environment for the magic to unfold!

Until next time...

Be remarkable!

Felicia

P.S. I would love for you to join me in The Emerge Leaders' Circle. It's the perfect next step in my work where you sow a seed into your own development and it's guaranteed to reap an ROI well above your financial investment. Juniques Multi Cultural Connections Making the Financial Way for Seniors and Elderly

JUNIQUES MULTI CULTURAL CONNECTIONS IS AGE AWARE!!!  http://www.jusmcc.org
If there ever was a group of people who need financial strategies for living a positive lifestyle is Senior Citizens (60-80) and the Elderly 80 and beyond).
Middle age folks (45-60) have to pay attention also, for they too, are heading into these catagories.
"The best-laid plans of mice and men often go awry" ( robert burns, poet)
Yes, the best laid plans can go wrong!!!!
JMCC is offering options for improving your finances ( which seems to effect so many areas of development). Living does not have to be difficult!!
USA economic policies are in place and/or being put in place to assist our youth. That is a good thing!
However, we must look at the other end of that "timeline" and see where these youths, will be arriving.
If we properly prepare, we will not have to be repeating the same economic empowerment strategies for those "new age category" people.
Additionally, we must assist seniors and elderly in devising an effective economic empowerment strategy. No one wants to be at the "mercy" of someone else benevolence to take care of them.
We have too much going for us economically in the USA to not make this happen!!!
www.jusmcc.org will be a advocate and provider in this endeavor.
The demographical information shows us why this economic empowerment is imperative!!

Senior Citizens to Exceed Children in Most of World and U.S. by 2050 Census Bureau estimates show seniors in U.S. increasing by 104% from 2012 to 2050
June 28, 2012 - The world's inhabitants in 2012 are an older mix of people than was the case a decade ago, driven by declining fertility and increasing life expectancy.
According to new U.S. Census Bureau population projections, by midcentury most world regions, and the United States, will resemble Europe, which in 2005 became the first major world region where the population 65 and older outnumbered those younger than 15. In the United States, the senior citizen population - those age 65 and older - is projected to grow by 104.3% between mid-year 2012 and 2050.
At that point there will be 80.5 million Americans under age 15 and 86.8 million seniors over age 64. Northern America, which includes Canada and the United States, will have joined Europe in this historic reversal of age group sizes by 2050, as will Asia, Latin America and Oceania (which includes Australia and New Zealand).
Moreover, China is projected to move from having nearly twice as many people in the younger age group than in the older one in 2012, to the opposite situation by midcentury. These projections come from an update of the Census Bureau's International Data Base, which includes estimates by age and sex to 100 years and older for countries and other areas with populations of 5,000 or more and provides information on population size and growth, mortality, fertility and net migration. Since April 2012, users of the International Data Base have been able to obtain population in single years of age, allowing them to calculate country-specific populations in particular age groups (e.g. population at selected ages younger than 5, or adolescents).
Between now and the middle of the 21st century, global population will continue aging. The percentage of population 65 and older will more than double, from 8 percent today to nearly 17 percent in 2050. This will carry with it well-established changes in the mix of communicable and noncommunicable disease patterns in populations, health care burden, pension systems, the composition and character of the labor force, and other economic variables, such as savings and consumption patterns.
One world region — Africa — will continue to have populations younger than 15 that are much larger than those 65 and older, but even there, the balance will have shifted toward the older group JMCC is active in providing job and opportunities for the multi cultural communities, especially seniors and elderly!!

JUNIQUES MULTICULTURAL CONNECTIONS IS PROUD TO ANNOUNCE THE INTRODUCTION OF THE AFRICAN AMERICAN CONNECTION E COMMERCE. HERE IS LETTER FROM THE CEO OF E BUSINESS SOLUTIONS"Epiphanysoul"Black Visionary and Activist; Charles Bowlds breaks the "Code" to the Financial Failures In the African American Community".Introducing the AAC's EBusiness Solution's CEO; Carolyn Simmonshttp://www.jusmcc.orgclick here to check out AACBorn in Beaufort, SC to a single mother who was the first black school bus driver in the county and a woman who always put education first, I was anointed and blessed to have such a strong-willed,powerful and loving women who gave me everything. My mother left Beaufort at an early age to better herself and to pursue her education. She moved to Portland, MA and she sent for me four years later. My mother was determined to show me that independence would carry me many days in my life. I can say that I truly had the best and went to the best public schools. My mother involved me in music at an early age as well as many other activities. Although we lived in the north, economic slavery and discrimination were still very real for most Blacks. Even though my mother faced a lot of racism, she never brought her sorrows and frustrations home to me. She was and still is today the strongest women I know even with her disability. As a small child I never knew what discrimination was even though there were days when incidents would occur. It wasn't until moving back home to Beaufort in the seventies did I begin to realize what the great migration to the north was about. We Blacks have always been last in having the freedoms, rights, justice, and the so called "American Dream". So my life trials and pains of watching and understanding what my family and others have went through for so many years, molded me and gave me determination to a lifelong dream of empowering my people. I have always had a love for and always sought to find the vehicle that would help us break the generational curse of poverty, hopelessness and financial death. After going through and being in many different companies, groups, organizations that I thought would break the "Code", of financial disparity in the black community and watching the collapse of Wall Street, I had received a call from Charles about the company I watched him grow five years ago. That vehicle is the African American Connection. http://www.jusmcc.orgclick here to check out AACWe often complain about and debate about the forty acres and a mule and why blacks our always last to succeed but no one really broke the "Code". One thing we as blacks must realize is that for to long we have looked to others to in some way confirm who we are as a people. We've measured ourselves not by the characteristics of who we are and what God has blessed us with but we believe we are not worthy unless other cultures validate us. Not only am I humbled and grateful but I'm truly excited about the capability and the sureness of this company to be one of the pillars that will help us through the toughest of times.Charles has showed that in the AAC we don't have to be politically correct and we should be proud of our Afro Centric Views and Values. The African American Connection in my opinion demands and requests the true spirit and values of the Black community. It stirs in us a sense of pride, strength and worthiness’, as well as empowers the entrepreneurial spirit that is a part of our DNA. It allows us (without penalty), to learn the value of having our own business. It is the vehicle to which the prerequisite is to be accountable for your culture, your children and your legacy. It is one of the most powerful visions that has been brought to life by a man not just seeking a monetary fix but a long-lasting legacy that will reshape our destiny as African Americans.Understand this, the energy that will fuel this vehicle is the solidarity of the Black community and the responsibility we have to lift up all black businesses and admonish our owners who choose to with (courage and a strong sense of urgency), take their place in history.I encourage you all to partake of this wonderful opportunity to embrace our economic power, build our financial freedom and secure entrepreneurship for the future. Know that it is then and only then that we will assure the survivability of our children for generations.Welcome all to the African American Connection's E-Business SolutionsSincerely,Carolyn Simmons CEOE-Business Solutionshttp://www.jusmcc.orgclick here to check out AAC

Do You Know James Ingram the Artist from Akron OH

The latest music of one of my favorite artist and someone knew from my hometown is so awesome I want everyone to be blessed with this music as I have been for most of my life. James Ingram and I grew up in the same neighborhood, in Akron, Ohio and his music is so familiar to me.James has an extensive collection of music from Revelation Funk of the 1970’s to singing back up with Ray Charles and everyone remembers PYT “Pretty Young Thang” and “Secret Garden” just to mention a few of his talents.I have listened to his parents sing in church, his brother play the organ in church and stood next to his sister in our high school choir. Yes the entire family is talented and deeply Spiritual. This latest work brings back memories of that sleepy little industrial town where everyone worked at the rubber factory and went to church. His latest work reminds me of high school football games, summer picnics at Turkeyfoot Lake and going to church. “Stand in the Light” is reminiscent of Sunday school followed by morning service and a dinner after church already prepared waiting to be reheated. The testimony of a neighbor or someone “shouting” and being filled with the Spirit that morning in church inspired you to make a new commitment to yourself to be better because it could always be worse and that you could be in someone else’s shoes. In Don’t Let Go he sings of what his father taught him about lessons learned and enduring life on life’s terms. His family was a strong presence in the church as I remember them.Continue ReadingOmitunde, Publisher of African American Family ConnectionAn online magazine about African American Family values, traditions, and culture.Visit AAFC for the latest issue each month and a copy of "The Ripple Effect" E-Coursehttp://www.africanamericanfamilyconnection.com
