Me Time!

Sometimes I just don't feel cute. I'm feeling a little overweight, my hair may not be doing what I want it to do. I just have a case of the blahs! Do you ever feel that way? As women and as mothers, we just have those days sometimes. We're taking care of the kids, the husband, the house, the business, everything but oops! we foregot to take care of self. Forgetting to take that "Me Time" could lead to more stress, which could lead to irritability, insomnia, weight gain and a host of other medical problems. But there is hope. We can de-stress by beginning to lead and live a Self-Caring Lifestyle. We can and need to exercise daily, eat healthier (eat those fruits and vegetables that momma always told us to eat), pray, meditate, get our rest and learn how to relax. Learning how to take care of ourselves will ultimately lead to having more energy and vitality, we'll be calmer and have more peace, we'll listen better which will lead to better relationships, overall we'll live a healtier, balanced life.To implement some "Me Time" here are some suggestions:Daily affirmations. Every day look in the mirror, look yourself in the eyes and state your affirmations. (This may feel weird, but it will help)Write daily in your journal about all experiences in your life. Start a gratitude journal and write about all the things you are grateful for.Listen to your favorite music, dance like nobody's watchingRead, draw, sing, whatever you love to do, do it!Be still. Take time to just sit in silence and allow Spirit to speak to you.Take a Spa Break. Take a warm bath using your favorite natural products, light a natural soy candle in your favorite scent. It's nice to be back. I see there have been a lot of people visiting my spot. Thank you for looking at my page. Unfortunately, I have been away due to illness. Things are looking positive.So, I need to get back to helping with my automotive tips. Are you glad the gas prices are down? But, we keep hearing how bad the economy is doing. That shouldn't stop you from maintaining your car. Keep up with you oil changes, rotating the tires with the proper air pressure, and tune-ups. Just yesterday, I noticed the gas prices creeping back up. So, everyone needs to be dilegent about the the auto maintenance. Don't cut corners with you vehicle. With people being laid off, you may need to travel a little further to make ends meet.Where did we leave off with our tips? We've talked about using the correct oil weight. We've talked about why you should change your oil. Why the correct tire pressure is critical to the life of your tires. Here a topic that is overlooked by many car owners.Timing belt changeDoes your vehicle have over 60,000 miles? Did you buy it used? Do you have the maintenance records from that purchase? The timing belt is the most overlooked maintenace. Most people are surprised that there is a timing belt on there vehicle. The timing belt is overlooked because it's not seen by the naked eye. It's under a cover. You can't look at it to see if it need replacement. When do most people notice the timing belt? When it breaks as you're driving down the road. Your vehicle will suddenly shut off. You will lose all power to your vehicle. When the timing belt breaks, there is a chance the engine will need replacement. You won't know until the repair starts. Most engine are called interference motors. This will keep them from being repaired.In other words, get the timing belt replaced. Many of us have shackled the hands of God in our lives and settled for mediocrity instead of striving for excellence. God wants to really do some miraculous things in our lives this year, but because of our mentality, we forfeit those things. We have to get God out of the mental box we have placed him in with our words and our minds, and we must allow him to be great and mighty in our lives!Your situation is not going to change until you change your mind! Your higher calling is not gonna be reached until you change the way you view God and his power. You must let him be God. Stop saying that you won't make it or you can't do it. Stop saying that you are not worthy of it or you are not good enough! Stop allowing your situation to speak to you.Just because you are in trouble does not mean that trouble is in you!Your present circumstances and situations are not inside of you, even though it may be happening to you. Just because you are being tried or tested does not mean that you caused the test or trial! You just come out of it better than before and God will still be God! You have all the potential in the world and God has all the power, therefore, you should be everything that you are capable of being with those ingredients. I know we have started a new year, and while it is always wonderful to start the year off with a list of goals or new year resolutions that will never last more than 4 days, i think it is important to realize that unless something changes, nothing changes.It is my absolute belief that we must take full and utter responsibility for our lives and our actions if we want to improve the quality at all.Now before everyone starts jumping up and down and sending me hate mail, im not saying its easy, or without challenges. But when has something that has been easy been rewarding?So many wonderful opportunities await you when you step up and decide to take control of the big ship we call "our lives". So much power comes from that decision alone. Everything shifts. Thats the good news.The less than good news is that if you change and you have been doing the same things over and over for so long, you may upset the balance of other peoples lives, and they may not know how to take it. For example, imagine that you are the "yes" person, so you have been saying yes to everyone for so long its just taken for granted that when asked you will say yes. Now imagine that you have decided to take control of your life and you start to say "NO" to some people. They may not know how to handle that. Because you have changed, you will force them to change as well, and some wont like that, but thats their stuff not yours.If you have been enabling someone for so long it becomes normal, when you change, it forces their lives to change and that may be difficult for them and you may cop some slack for it. Luckily us women have strong shoulders and so do our sisters we lean on for support.I guarantee you that your life will improve because you are the one that gets to make the decisions and that can only work in your favor.Life is a work in progress so be kind to yourself. How to Stop the Spread of America’s Most Dangerous Pandemic - Narcissism

There was a time when I used to be amazed at the number of seemingly grown men who were unwilling to be responsible for their own lives and for those of the families they made. Like everyone else, I’ve seen the increasing dismal statistics of fatherlessness in the American community. I would even go so far as to say there is pandemic manlessness as well. Men in our extended families are also becoming increasingly rare. What seems to be commonplace now are families with lots of women, young children, and old men. Young men are few and far between – and getting fewer all the time.Many women have rushed to blame the men for this. After all, ultimately it is their choice to leave; their choice to follow the examples, or the lack thereof, that preceded them. These are grown men and entirely accountable for their action and/or inaction – granted.However, I submit to you that many women – particularly many single mothers – are in the deepest denial about their contribution to this pandemic. In their zeal to raise good sons they have often neglected to raise responsible men who would actually be suitably productive husbands and fathers. So many single mothers, mothering from the own pains and issues, often deliberately or incidentally surrogate their children into “pseudo-spouses”. In the process, these children often receive severely mixed messages. On the one hand, they are constantly reminded of how much they resemble all the worst traits in their fathers. On the other, their mothers are quick to lay guilt trips on them if they dare to establish an independent identity or a different significant female relationship. These boys get angry and resentful, so the mother’s remedy is often to indulge them. They are rewarded with material things in return for their faithfulness to fulfilling their mother’s wishes.And so the cycle continues until the sex drive takes over. Now, these same young men start “mating and procreating” with no significant grasp of the level of responsibility that creates. However, thinking that they do, they often “try” to be there. That usually lasts until he gets overwhelmed and/or it’s not fun anymore. She wakes up one day without him; and grandma is raising babies once again. Why? Because we have spawned yet another generation of people who believe the universe exists solely to serve them. If it doesn’t, then there is clearly something wrong with the universe – it couldn’t possibly be something wrong with them. We’ve created yet another generation of perfect pimps and then we get mad at them when they behave accordingly. We often create the monsters that come back to kill us.How do we stop it? Here are three things we can do: 1) Put them out of their parents’ house by age 21 – sooner if they don’t go to college at 18; 2) stop letting them have sex in a home they don’t have a lease/mortgage on; and 3) stop letting them move their girlfriends into that same house.Brain surgery – it is not!Speaking the truth in love,Deidre

Why Ask Why?

In the great mental vacuum of psychobabble and matching talk shows, seems to be an endless string of people from failed relationships asking “why”. “Why didn’t I get my promised phone call?” “Why weren’t they where they said they were going to be?” “Why did they lie to me?” “Why did they cheat on me?” Why, why, why, why!!! These pointless inquiries are usually followed by some mention of “closure” as if having “closure” somehow changes the end results. My question is why ask why?The fact is it makes no difference. Why people do what they do rarely makes a difference. That they do what they do is what ultimately matters. Oh, I realize most people think that if the “reason” is good enough, it’s going to make everything OK somehow. But let’s face it; the reasons are usually a far cry from the near life and death scenarios we need them to be for our own rationalizations. Oftentimes, the “reasons” people give are just more lies. Which brings me back to my original question – why ask why?Ask this, am I hurt about the lie or action? Would you really feel better knowing that you didn’t get that call because she was just trying to spare your feelings or would you prefer that she simply didn’t make a promise she never intended to keep? Would you really feel better if you knew that he lied to you just to get laid or would you prefer that he was simply honest about wanting to get laid so you could be a real adult and decide for yourself if you wanted to participate? How does it hurt less or damage you less if you know you were cheated on just because it was possible? Is it better to be cheated on for meaningless sex or because of a relationship?My point is, whatever the “reason”, the end result is the same. Most of us have enough to do trying to replenish ourselves after a bad relationship. If you really want to spend that time productively, it would be much better to focus on what actually does matter – dealing with the reality of the situation you’re left with. Don’t deny; don’t distort; don’t try to medicate away the feelings – they suck, but they’re not fatal. People somehow manage to live through them all the time – no matter how horrible.Give yourself the opportunity to be surprised and proud of how strong you really are. See it for what it is; deal with it; and become a better person on the other side of the pain. That way, you can be truly useful and pay your wisdom forward to someone else suffering the same agony.Speaking the truth in love,Deidre

Product Development: How the Cute Lil' Muffins Came to be

The origin of Cute Lil' Muffins. I created these muffins by accident, actually. I was originally trying to approve upon my initial cupcake design, which I put in actual cupcake holders. The sizes weren't quite right and consistency with the original cupcakes was essentially impossible. So clearly, I had to return to the drawing board and I came up with these cute little numbers. Each Lil' Muffin includes a receiving blanket, washcloth and pair of socks. It took showing the picture to a friend to open my eyes to the fact that they had cute little muffin tops and weren't quite right for "cupcakes". So, I missed the mark of my designing the product I was set out to make and instead created these adorable muffins which incidentally sell equally well to the new and improved cupcakes, which I began working on soon after.When developing products, it's important to recognize that you may not always immediately reach your desired goal. You may have to throw out a few batches in order to get the perfect cookie. In some cases, you have to be open to suggestions and the observations of others because that can make all the difference in the world.
