Some of you have been waiting for a long time for my featured products My Glory Hair Care Products. I will give a full description of each product below:

First down the run way is the Hair & Scalp Oil Moisturizer
This product is to be used first. You will part the hair and apply the oil to the scalp and massage through to the ends of the hair. Place a plastic cap over and let set for at least 24hrs only if time allows. But for better results to infuse hair 24hrs is the best or cover with plastic and set under the drier for 30 to 45 mins.

This wonderful little oil is the hair maker. With its combination of olive oil, moisturizer, vitamins and natural fragrance, it literally breaths life back into the hair. This moisturizer should be used on a weekly basis just before hair wash time. If you wash on a more regular basis...set time accordingly.

Next down the runway is the My Glory Shampoo & My Glory Conditioner. These two together gives the hair the one, two punch of electricity that is need to revitalize the hair with out stripping your delicate hair of its needed oils. This is a combination of gentel cleaners, olive oil, vitamins, and moisturizer, makes your hair soft and easy to comb..it is low sudsing for a more gentel cleaning. After you have completed the washing process rinse and towel blot some of the water from your hair and apply the conditioner. This is a very gentel conditioners with a lite sent, it is ready to go the work on your hair by relaxing it just a little and putting more moisture into the hair shaft. The conditioner also has olive oil, vitamins, and moisturizer just what the hair needs to stay on track of being totally moisturized.

How many of you take time for YOURSELF? I have watched enough Oprah shows to know that if you don't take care of yourself no one else will. You will be unhappy, grumpy, and your friends will be begging you to see a shrink. If anyone knows it's me. A child with autism, and epilepsy; family dysfunction, unsuccesful relationships, death of close friends and family members, etc...I don't feel like a victim, so don't go poor Rierie, just sharing!!! I used to run on empty, out of gas; that was my normalcy so to speak, then one day I crashed. I wanted to crawl into a whole and never come out. God's grace saved me. There are a few things that I cannot live without nowadays. I try to feed my mind, my body, my spirit, as much as I can; it's all connected, so why not take care of the whole package!!!

The Mind
6a00cdf39c677acb8f00d4143c67bc3c7f-500pi.jpgWhewwww, "she" can chatter all day long; from what you need to do right now, what you didn't do yesterday, how many things you have to get done nowwww. "She" will keep you up at night, and before you know it, you are on Ambien. So I brain drain.
-Brain drain: write down a list of everything you need to do on a notepad, from grocery store to going to the bank to chaperoning your kids next field trip.
-Stop being negative; I am sure you already know this, whatever you focus on expands, if you focus on negativity, what's wrong in your life, you will get more of it.
-Let your mind float freely. Imagine that you have no limitations. Imagine that you have all the time, money, resources, intelligence, education, experience and all the contacts in the world. Imagine that you could do, be or have anything in your life. What if you had no fear of failure at all?
-Your most important goals/intentions must be YOURS. Not your spouse's, your child's, your employer's, your mother's, your sister's....
-Write your intentions in positive terms, avoid saying "I will not be. Your subconscious mind is very specific and it doesn't judge, it will attract like a magnet whatever you focus on.
If you've never read 'The Power Of Your Subconscious Mind", pick up a copy, a great book....I have 2 copies, dog-eared to the 10th power lol.

The Body
If you are not kind to it now, it will be hostile to you later.
HUK+Cover-1.png
-Don't diet, diets make you cranky, eat whole foods; diet=die, I want to live lol. I am sure you do too. God gave us whole foods for a reason, ditch those frozen meals, canned goods, fat free this and that. Eat grass fed beef, organic chicken, wild caught fishes; not farm-raised, organic fruits, and veggies. Use olive oil, and coconut oil. Do your research on canola oil, and soy (disturbing). Cut out sugar, drink more water. I can't get down with eggs beaters in a carton box, come on now.....you get the jist. Check out this book, "Healthy Urban Kitchen", the author, Antonio is on to something....
-Move it; you don't have to be a slave to the treadmill, hike, take a walk with your dog, take your kids or grandkids to the park and become one of them, salsa dance (my faaaavorite woo hoo).
Check out these two amazing salsa teachers; they offer classes that will have you sweating and cheering; Myriam Soavinzara and "Tony "El Pana". You will be sweating to a slimmer you while having fun...
-Treat yourself to a massage, mani-pedi, get a facial, plan a get away, put on lipgloss, reconnect with a long time friend over a great glass of wine, take on golf.... :-)

The Spirit
We are spiritual beings having a human experience, that's what I believe, we are more than this body. Believe in a Higher Power, whatever it may be for you, I am a God fanatic, and lover ♡
-Prayers work, enough said.
Getting in the Gap: Making Conscious Contact with God Through Meditation (Book with CD)-Meditate, "Be still, and know that I am God" (Psalm 46:10). Look up Japa meditation if you are having a hard time shutting down your mind. It's helped me a lot. You can check out Dr. Wayne Dyer's book "Getting in the gap".
-Surrender, this is now a daily practice of mine, it has truly become a habit. To surrender means to yield, to relinquish control over. When we surrender to God, we are simply acknowledging that what we "own" actually belongs to Him. He is the giver of all good things. By surrendering to God, we admit that He is ultimately in control of everything, including our present circumstances. Let Go, let God.
-Forgive someone; Love someone; Compliment someone and mean it, say Thank You.
-Be grateful; there are thousands of things to be grateful for on a regular basis, no matter how difficult things may seem. "When you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change". Dr. Wayne Dyer

LIFE IS A GAME....PLAY IT....LIVE YOUR PASSION, IT'S UP TO YOU!!!!!

These are the few things I do to keep me sane, what about you? What do you do to keep your sanity? What do you do to keep a healthy mind, body, and spirit?

Style Q&A-How to wear a tiger print skirt?

Happy New Year!!I hope all of you had a lovely start to 2010 and are looking optimistically towards making this a wonderful year.I often offer to assist you with any fashion challenges you may encounter. While I’m not a stylist, I do have an ability to take an objective look at things and offer insight into how you can improve your wardrobe. I got a wonderful question from a reader and I decided to dedicate a post to it.Hi,Taking you up on your kind offer to address readers’ questions, I would like to know if you would have any suggestions on what to wear with a faux-fur tiger print mini-skirt. Yellow is the primary colour, with brown stripes. I was originally thinking of brown tights and shoes with a brown sweater and maybe a brown leather jacket, but that seems like way too much brown. Also, a Google image search reveals that most people seem to pair animal print with black, not brown. Now I’m wondering if I could do some sort of mix-and-match with brown and black. Like maybe a black top and black tights but brown shoes? Or would that look too weird with the skirt?I absolutely need to find some way to wear this skirt or it will never get worn. Thanks for your help!PennyI’d like to thank Penny for sharing her question. I think many women have a similar problem wearing animal print. You don’t want your outfit to clash but you don’t want to look to matchy matchy. In order to help with visuals, I found a picture of a skirt with a similar print.

tiger-print-skirt.jpg

http://beautyandthestreet.blogspot.com/2008_05_25_archive.htmlWell, this is quite a cute skirt so good choice, Penny, on picking it. If the dominant dark color is brown, then you could go with a brown pallet for the rest of the outfit. I would suggest if you do the brown shirt and shoes, you don’t do brown tights, go with bare legs. However, you could also do something similar to what the model in the picture is doing. You could do a white or off white shirt and some brown boots or sandals (depending on the time of year you want to wear the skirt). I wouldn’t do the black shoes and brown tights because it may be hard to pull off confidently. That doesn’t mean that brown and black won’t go together, because they will, just not in this case.I hope this insight is helpful for you, Penny, and for any of you other Clueless Fashionistas out there struggling with an animal print piece of clothing. Don’t put it in the back of your closet never to see the light of day. Pull it out and experiment with it. Try it with several different pieces and see what works best. Pull our your full length mirror and give yourself a mini fashion show!If you have any other questions about fashion and style, please ask away. Let’s make 2010 the year we step outside of our fashion comfort zones and broaden our style horizons!

Your Business Commercial

30 Second Business CommercialHave a compelling response to the question "What do you do?" or "Tell me about you" Make it brief and interesting. If you only have 30 seconds, give them enough of an idea about what you do so that they seek you out to hear more lately. Even in a situation where you have more time, be brief but to the point and then allow them to ask questions. Their questions will give you an idea of their particular interest.Join Groups and NetworkJoin or create a leads exchange group. Find or create a group that has members with businesses aimed at a similar target market to yours. Job seekers find others looking in the same industries. If you join a group where everyone markets to consumers and you market to businesses, you probably won't be able to give or get many leads.Use every social occasion as a networking opportunity. Have your business cards ready if someone asks for one.Build Business RelationshipsForm strategic partnerships with others. If there are other businesses related to yours, seek them out and establish your own relationships. For example if you are a wedding planner you will want to form partnerships with florists, photographers, bands, DJs etc. Refer to your strategic partners and they in turn will refer to you. Job seekers find some partners who are at a higher level than you and who when they find jobs will help you find one in their new company. Of course you must plan to do the same for them.TestimonialsMake a list of testimonials from customers to use with potential customers or employers. Make these testimonials part of your brochure and/or website, and have as a separate document to put into proposals.Domain Name & LogoUse a domain name that tells what your business is i.e. bob@bobthebuilder.com. When someone calls Bob they will probably ask him what he builds. The email address itself opens conversation.Create a unique style or logo that makes you memorable. Establish yourself or your logo as a brand so people remember you. Frank Purdue did it as a person. Coca Cola does it as a logo. You can do it too!How do you Market Your Business?

The Recipe Writer's Handbook

If you have lived for a while on this earth you will notice that there is very little new under the sun, with the exception of perhaps technology, which we're not talking about here. There are creative and interesting ways to use sugar, chocolate, spices and herbs in baking. There are fascinating ways to decorate cakes, cookies and all things sweet and edible. If you are a seasoned cook/baker you probably already know about this little jewel of a book, but if you are not this may be something you will want to look into. Originally written in 1997 by Barbara Gibbs Ostmann and Jane L.Baker The Recipe Writer's Handbook is something all bakers should have on their cookbook shelf. Why? Because one day you will be (perhaps not a "baby-boomer") but a generation "X" boomer or generation "Y" boomer and you will be passing on knowledge to the next generation of bakers. This sort of information is helpful. This little book is designed to teach you to "think" your way through a recipe to make important decisions and trouble shoot problems concerning format, syntax, spelling, cooking terminology etc." Those who attended at professional culinary art program probably already know this, but trust and believe if you live long enough it will escape your memory. You may not think you will, but one day you may want to put all your recipes to pen or in today's case "Word," and publish all those dynamic dishes that have made you famous or not so...famous. Publishers are always looking for ways to take a bigger piece of your pie, so this book can assist you in structuring your recipes in such a manner that publishers will think you had help...well you did it just didn't cost you an arm and a leg.The more you know, the more you can deliver and you won't have to rely on the publisher finding culinary writers to "clean up" your recipes.I have the old copy (original 1997) and plan of purchase the revised and expanded copy soon. The chapters in my copy are well written and the information is invaluable. Here's a hint of what's in the book (1997 version).Chapter 1 The Philosophy of Recipe WritingChapter 2 Recipe Writing StyleChapter 3 The Style SheetChapter 4 Recipe TestingChapter 5 Cooking TerminologyChapter 6 Preferred Spelling of Commonly Used Food WordsChapter 7 Generic Terms for Brand Names and TrademarksChapter 8 MetricsChapter 9 Nutrition Analysis of RecipesChapter 10 Copyright, Plagiarism and the Ethics of Recipe Writing and more (15 Chapters in all). The new revised book is on Amazon for under $10 (used) and I have emailed the authors to see if they might be revising it again (it's 2009). As I mention before if this is old news, no sweat, but for those baby bakers out there, just another resource for your baking arsenal.

The Pink Locket Fashion Week Picks

Since this week is Mercedes Benz NY Fashion Week, here at The Pink Locket we have interrupted our regularly scheduled blogging to give you our selection on what we think is hot in Spring 2009 fashion. We hope you enjoy our picks.Designer, Tracy Reese unveiled her Spring 2009 line on Sunday, September 7th. The accessory that really caught the eye was this wrap around gold chain necklace. It looks so versatile and can be worn with almost any outfit. Not to mention it looks absolutely great against the color orange. The dangle metal pieces on the end also make a great accent on the necklace, giving that extra detail. This is definitely a worthwhile investment.By: Kamilah C.The Pink Lockethttp://thepinklocket.com

My Grandmother's Purse

What I love about accessories is that even an antique piece looks pretty when you wear it today. I remember my grandmother would pass along some of her small handbags and jewelry pieces to my sister and I. In fact on my wedding day, my “something old” was a gold kitten brooch my grandmother gave me when I was 10 years old.If you love antique and vintage items as much as I do then you may want to check out this gold and green vintage chain mesh purse by Lang Antique & Estate Jewelry. It does more than just tell a story that has lasted generations. It reminds us that even back then women took pride in their treasured pieces. Designed with pure precision and craft, this piece is pricey but there’s nothing wrong with having a wish list.By: Kamilah CampbellThe Pink Lockethttp://thepinklocket.com

I have to admit ever since I moved to Atlanta last year I’ve had to rock “the ponytail” look quite frequently because the heat and humidity made my hair look like Diana Ross. One of my fellow brilliant Georgia Etsians designs these cute fabric ponytail holders, check out Designs By Janna at http://designsbyjanna.etsy.com. These holders come in various patterned designs and will accent any ponytail! My personal favorite is the “Pink and Brown Dandy Damask.” The prices are also pretty reasonable, a set ranges anywhere from $3.75 to $5.25.By: Kamilah Campbellhttp://thepinklocket.comhttp://thepinklocket.etsy.comWOLF125.jpg
