Marketing (437)

People Who Prosper is pleased to announce our new segment, A Day in the Life of... Series.  In addition to featuring successful business persons, we will be featuring work-from-home business owners, chronicling a typical day in their life. This segment is to help those CURIOUS and perhaps INTERESTED in a career change.

Our first A Day in the Life of… feature entrepreneur is Shakirah Karim. She is a Seacret Agent by day..and by night. Shakirah is a successful distributor with Seacret Direct. Seacret Direct started about two years ago, branching off of their kiosks in malls. Shakirah and her partner Felipe have jumped right in and are steadily moving up the ranks. 007 couldn’t touch her as she rises to the top in this company.  So, watch your back as you read A Day in the Life of…Shakirah Karim, Seacret Agent.

1. What do you do and how long have you been self-employed ?

My background is in public relations/Marketing and I'm currently a partner in a few small businesses. I've been self-employed as a network marketer for 6 years and for the past 2 years my main focus has been as a SEACRET Agent, an independent partner within the community of Seacret: an established retail brand now converted into a network business model.

2. How did you find your business and what made you decide to become self-employed?

I was introduced to SEACRET by a few close friends. They had been inspired by products and had come up with a new concept that would redefine the Seacret brand. They developed a system where instead of chasing people at the mall through high pressured kiosk sales, they could WOW them in the comforts of their own home. Today, with still less than 30,000 agents within the entire company (US, Canada, Mexico, South Korea) and more international capabilities there is so much more growth we're going to experience and those that take action and position themselves  now while we're doing less than $5 million a month will be reaping the many rewards once we reach $100 million mark!

3. What are your daily success, productive, personal development and/or family routines? Explain a day in your life: Morning. Afternoon. Evening.

My daily routine consists of waking up, walking my dog, reading a few pages of the Bible. Then I spend 30-45 minutes doing personal development, I just finished reading Success Through a Positive Mental Attitude by Napolean Hill and I've just started reading The Leader Within by John C Maxwell. I try to make it to the gym at least 4 times in the week. I make sure I start my day off right and continue to working on myself inside and out. Creating good habits like these help you develop in business and in other areas of your life. The remainder of my day consists of a mixture of sharing the products with new people and helping new agents launch their business and helping them with their WOW parties.  I work Seacret on a full-time basis so I will have 1-2 WOW parties a day. The majority of people who work with us are on a part-time basis, doing maybe 1 WOW party a week. I'm on a leadership hunt, we're less than 25,000 agents, the top money earners coming out of Seacret haven't even heard of this opportunity yet.

4. What are the biggest challenges in your business operations?

The biggest challenge that I face would have to be MINDSET. It's something that we all struggle with not only in business, in our faith, in our life. What's interesting, is it’s also the only thing we have control over. I can't control what others are going to do or not do. But I can control how I feel, how I react and what action I take. I continue to work on keeping a positive forward thinking mindset. For the first time I've found a passion and purpose in what I’m doing and I’m confident on where it will take me and my family. Never forgetting where I've come from, I'm focused on where I'm going and how many people I can take with me.

5. What keeps you motivated to work from home or stay self-employed and not get an everyday J.O.B.?

I'm motivated by the future of this company. Seacret was a $800 Million powerhouse and to be a part of that moving over to the relationship marketing space has been amazing. What motivates me is that fact that we have WOW products that shows results, it's sold in over 40 countries, and has only been open for less than 2 years. The timing of the company has made me want to work even harder. There's no other industry that can provide me unlimited income potential and time freedom. And with Seacret I've been able to help other people realize their goals and dreams as well, because it's not just what you do in your life but how many other people you can effect as well.

6. What advice would you give to someone looking to be self-employed?

What I love about this business is that it's meant to be built part-time. You should be working full-time on your job and part-time on your fortune (your business). I think self-employment is the key to freedom. Having a part-time home based business that pays can give the average person choices. If you find the right venture and follow a proven system that part-time business could do anything from cover the bills to pay for that vacation or even completely transform your life financially. Once the income from your part-time business outweighs your full-time income you have reached freedom. Then you are in a position to choose where you want to spend your time. When deciding to start/open a business do your research, find something that will give you exponential return. With respect to network marketing if you want to build true leverage invest in a venture where there's still an opportunity for growth and not in a company that has an already well established distribution. Mark Twain once said that success was simple: "Find out where everyone is going and then get there first."

First things first what is Instant Rewards: Instant Rewards is an online CPA (Cost Per Action) marketing company who works with different fortune 500 companies.  Instant Rewards gives others the opportunity to partner with them as independent referral agents; where your job will be to connect potential customers with these companies and receive daily commissions starting at $20 just for helping people try free or low cost trial offers.

Why Instant Rewards Works

Instant Rewards and companies like them are providing a solution to big companies who are realizing that the traditional methods of advertising have not been as effective as they once were; in this day of DVR, On Demand and TIVO we are all able to watch tv the way we want meaning no more sitting through commercials; this has created a profitable opportunity for entrepreneurs and employees alike to work from home and receive a slice of the billion dollar annual advertising budget that these Fortune 500 companies are allocating to what is known as CPA Marketing.

Cost Per Action or CPA (sometimes known as Pay Per Action or PPA) is an online advertising pricing model, where the advertiser pays for each specified action of a user, for instance… a form submission, the purchase of an item, or in this case signing up for trial offers.

In my search for an additional revenue stream I wanted to be able to earn money quickly with the least amount of start-up cost and the CPA marketing model allows me to do just that. In order to qualify to work for Instant Rewards you simply need to sign up and try one of the offers. It is a one time thing that allows you the opportunity to then refer others and earn a commission as often as you like. Although the potential is there to earn money quickly Instant Rewards, is not a get rich quick scheme it does require you to do some work but what I have found is that Instant Rewards provides great training, as well as tools and resources to make the work not as difficult.

If you are new to working online you may find Instant Rewards the perfect opportunity with the no or low start-up cost all you need to get started is a computer with Internet connection and about 15 minutes. You can learn more about Instant Rewards here or if you are ready to sign-up and start earning money click here.

If you are looking for a more long term residual income I would recommend you checking out this video.

Why Is Offline Marketing Important?

As an internet marketer and online business owner, you have to utilize offline marketing when it comes to gaining clients. Although it can be a challenge for many entrepreneurs, being innovative and finding creative ways to market your business can supercharge your profits. As a beginner, your main focus is maximizing your business above and beyond it's current status. This requires online and offline marketing.
Here are some simple ways you can gain more clients:

Word of Mouth Referrals

Friends and family are a good place to start for referring people to what you have to offer. Usually, these are the people that are most supportive of you and your business. But don't take advantage of them because of that. Offer a bonus of some sort for every lead conversion. This will keep them bringing you more customers.

You can even have a contest to see who refers more and develop a leader board so everyone knows who's at the top. Word-of-mouth is the best and most effective strategy for referrals. If you want to be successful, open your mouth and tell others.

Correspondence

Sending messages through e-mails or even using postal services, make sure you have your website and business info in you signature line. You can do this on social networks such as Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn also. When signing off, include a link to your blog or website. You should also put your upcoming promotions along with it so your recipients are aware of the products and/or services you are offering.

Why Did You Join Your Online Business? Was it to Earn Money? READ THIS!

Why did you join your  online business.

Was it only to earn money?

People who you contact will quickly discover that too!!

Building a team is critical in succeeding in your online business.

If your only motive is to earn money and product really does not matter,

that too will quickly become known.

You can at that moment, recognize and accept, for you, "Game Over".

It is important you have correct "business fit".

Like getting your clothes "tailored-fitted". You feel and look better, then the "off the rack fitting".

Where you just hope it looks good on you.

Your business selection is just as critical.

You must really believe in the product you promote. Yes, if you only offer the product  because you get a commission for getting other to offer the product. Success will not be your companion on the"road of life".

Any product can produce that result.

Actually, you could just "drop" the product and tell your prospect

"just send in your $30 per month and get others to do the same, and the income projections will be real!".

Some would call that gifting. Truly, this is one of the reason the industry stat "98% fail in Networking Marketing" holds true.

Ok, next critical reality.  You must build a team to help you grow your business and to help grow theirs!!!!

Have a system designed to help your team grow the "properly fitted business".

No one, I repeat, No one, should be trying to "reinvent the wheel".

There are proven promoting and recruiting tool available now for any serious business builder.

Fortunately, many are available at very low cost.

 Yes, I have a recommendation, ( thought I wouldn't  smile)

go to this location  http://ihateselling.us

Business tools to build your business for only $9.95 per month

I like this system, its professional and its affordable.

It is also easy to assist your team with. Critical. You want your team to

be able to work independently from you. Yes, dependent on team

assist but not depend on any one person. Think on that for a moment.

Ok, I will bring you additional observations and recommendation.

Until we speak or meet Have Fantastic days and may great wealth and great

Hello Juniques Multi Cultural Community members.(http://www.jusmcc.net)
I found this interview with Willie Crawford,
foremost Affiliate Marketer, to be extremely interesting.
He shares an answer to a common everyday problem,
earning income on the internet even if you never have before.
How to get started with other people help.
How to generate income today!
http://www.loyaltepays.com/juniques/

http://www.loyaltepays.com/juniques/

Willie's Story,

In my 16 years online, I've interacted with tens of
thousands of aspiring entrepreneurs... and coached
hundreds of them directly.

Many of these people started an online business  because
they had VERY limited budgets, and never would have been
able start brick-and-mortar businesses.

In fact, some insisted that they didn't even have enough
spare change to afford web hosting or an autoresponder.

When they approached me asking, what to do, I often
told them that they were better off taking a part-time
offline job, and using that money to bootstrap a business.

Back then, I didn't see any easy way to do it without
at least getting your own domain name,  some reputable
hosting, and a good autoresponder.  Yes, there were
companies that offered free hosting, etc., but that
didn't instill any confidence in potential customers...
and only branded the other company.

However, things change fast on the internet, and with
the advent to things like social media, it IS now
fairly easy to start an online business without spending
a penny... and if you HATE selling, you can earn a
decent income without even selling anything directly.

The biggest change, and the secret, actually is in
what makes social media "social."

Social media is all about sharing.

You can now generate a decent living just by SHARING
things.

What you share are branded videos, ebooks, graphics,
webinar recordings, etc.  These are branded with YOUR
affiliate links.  You share them on Facebook, Pinterest,
Twitter, a blog or discussion forum, etc., and when
someone checks them out, they are also checking out your
affiliate links.

The things is, you share interesting content, and never
really need to ask them to buy anything.

Since people LOVE to share content on social media
sites, your "friends" or followers will often repost
your shared content, and when they do, they pass along
YOUR affiliate link.

Pretty simple isn't it?

My favorite site for getting brandable content, that you
get paid for sharing, is at:
http://www.loyaltepays.com/juniques/

http://www.loyaltepays.com/juniques/
Check it out.

Membership is free, but there are upgrades available
too, and if you are a prolific content creator, or run
your own affiliate program, you can even upload YOUR
content, and allow site members to join YOUR affiliate
program.

The way you earn by sharing something as simple as say...
an inspiring/moving image though, is that when someone
visits the main site and joins... you get paid.

So you see, you can literally have no website, no
autoresponder... and even no cash, and start your
own online business.

Go ahead and check it out now.  I'm a member... here's

Top 4 Businesses to Start in 2013

2013 is just around the corner. And as we approach this time to declare a “New Year, New You”, this is a great time to do something new, do something different, and actually take the steps to start a business. Contrary to popular belief, you do not have to have specific education or thousands of dollars to invest in a business that will thrive and last beyond the dreaded 3 year failure mark. The following 4 business types are all businesses that have been deemed the “top” businesses to start in 2013 as their industries are growing.

1. Organic Food- Perhaps with help from the FLOTUS Michelle Obama with her “Let’s Move” Campaign, organic food sales are rising. People are starting to care more about the quality of food they consume and prepare for their family. The organic food industry is a growing industry that will continue growing into 2013. If you are someone who loves organic food, good with creating recipes or interested in growing it, this would be a great industry in which to start a business. Get more information here about the certifications and accreditations needed to get started. ORGANIC FOOD CERTIFICATION

Average Start-Up Costs: $500-$1000

2. Cosmetics- Always a popular product, natural cosmetics are going to be big in 2013. Women... well, people are going away with Botox and chemical peels, etc. They are looking for more natural ways to maintain a youthful appearance. There are several ways you can start a cosmetics company:

A.You can join a company already established and be their walking advertisement by wearing and sharing their products. Companies like Mary Kay, Seacret, Xango and Rodan+Fields are reputable companies with proven natural products.

Average Start-Up Costs: $100 - $1000

B. You can create your own cosmetic products. Of course your investment will be much more, but at the end, the product will be your own brand. To start a cosmetic line of quality may average you $40,000 and more. Don’t get me wrong, there are places where you can start your own for much less but if you want to stay in business, the money is worth it or go with option number A. Start Your Own Cosmetic Line Option

Average Start-Up Costs: $40,000+

3. Ecommerce – Amazon.com, Etsy.com, Ebay.com, and Volusion.com are just a few great resources for selling products like clothing, jewelry, electronics, books, music, vintage stuff, etc. People sell all kinds of things through these resources. All you need is a camera, even cell phone, to take pictures of stuff you are selling and set it up.

Average Start-Up Costs: $0 - $100

4. Affiliate Marketing- According to CNBC is the “best online small business idea of 2013”. The affiliate, internet, network marketing business model will see an increase of business owners. Several reasons for this is because training is free and unlimited and there is a great potential to generate a substantial income with residual options (money that continues to generate even if you do not work that month). Best companies to start are companies just starting, that do not have a saturated field of marketers. You just need a computer and an out of the box product. New Millenium Business

Average Start-Up Costs: $25 - $200

Of course these are only a few options for businesses to start. There are plenty other and if you put forth hard work in anything it is bound to succeed. For help on deciding what type of business to start, more specific information about the industries above, or how to expand your current business, Sign Here to receive a free consultation. Trying something new can be scary but when you have a Success Teacher by your side, that makes it so much easier. Happy New Year and make 2013 a "Go Get It" year!

Attention is being paid to the true wealth of our inner cities.  Hospitals, universities, community colleges and other "anchor" institutions in our U.S. cities are looking to "local" markets for their services and supplies.

Steps in Becoming the Best Hair Stylist

10744086491?profile=original

When you are inclined in the profession of hair styling, perhaps one of your greatest dreams is to be part of the few yet very good top hair dressers in your country or even in the world. It’s a very difficult journey but not an impossible one. It is not even impossible for those who have no knowledge and zero training at all, for the most important factor to be successful in this field is your determination, commitment, and your very own unique eyes. If it’s possible to be the industry’s leader, where should you start?

1. Start by acquainting yourself with the numerous hair cutting and styling methods and techniques. This would eventually consume bulk of your time. Even when you already consider yourself as a professional, there are still some items to consider and lessons to learn. An aspiring top hair stylist will not progress when there are gaps and omissions in his or her learning curve. Neither can he or she keep up with competition if he or she is unaware of cuts and styles others are offering.

2. Start with a few yet loyal clienteles. Though you would want to be recognized by as many people as possible to be the best hair stylist, it still pays to be patient and let the laws of nature and economics take their course. Concentrate on giving your best shot even with a few clients that you currently have, for the good news (your very good work) will eventually spread out. Instead of allotting your time massively promoting your services elsewhere, just prepare for the load of referrals that your current customers may provide when you get your job done exceptionally.

3. The industry leaders have keen pair of eyes capable of identifying hair styles whether they look good or exceptionally good. They are concentrated on providing the latter. Getting a haircut and hair styling done good means that your work is merely acceptable and is common. Creating an exceptional look suggests that your work is hailed above the average and an exception to what is acceptable, that it is somewhat unique and can only be tagged as your own creation.

4. Bring your imaginations to life. Most of the time, the best hair stylist can already imagine the perfect cut, twists, and curls at the mere instant of seeing the client’s hair. It’s a very good sign of an artistic and skillful mind. Implement all your planned creations however odd-looking they may be. The top hair stylists of today made their mark with the help of their crazy ideas.

5. Search for a good mentor. Aside from the lessons which may be imparted to you, explore more for other ideas. Join seminars and conventions on hair styling. When given an opportunity, seek employment under one of the best hair and fashion stylist in your country or area, even just as an assistant. You will eventually learn some tips and tricks by mere watching and listening.

6. Establish communication or a strong relationship with each of your client. If possible, get to know their personalities and lifestyles. It’s not only a form of excellent customer service but also a chance for you to learn even more.

It is my exciting pleasure to introduce to you the first ever MALE entrepreneur on PeopleWhoProsper.com. Brian Howard started in the restaurant industry then was introduced to the Network Marketing industry and has been in ever since. Brian shares his journey in business and what it really takes to be successful in the industry. I enjoyed hearing his story and hope you do too!

1. Tell me your story. What were you doing before you started your own business?

My story is really simple I was born and raised in Dayton, Oh. I grew up in a single parent home until I was a teen. It really did not feel like a tragic situation because I have an incredible family that always made sure that we were taken care of. I found my way into playing athletics and got good enough to walk-on the football team at Eastern Michigan University. I strongly recommend that everyone take part in some sort of team sport as you learn more life lessons on the field than in the classroom. I came to learn that playing professionally was probably not in the cards for me so, I started working in the most profitable industry that I knew of that required the least amount of training. The restaurant industry is probably the most misunderstood industry in all professions. I learned how to grow a big business. The only problem was I was always doing it for someone else.  I found out that I would never really have what I wanted working for someone else.

Because of that realization I believe that the universe sent me a message. I was shown  Amway and the direct sales industry. The men that introduced me to this industry were some of the sharpest people that I had ever met. I wanted to be a part of what they were doing and I wanted their life because they were not only living life but living it with style. So I went to work introducing this company to all my friends and family. All of them thought I was crazy and should pursue something more concrete. I came to the harsh reality that I was not as sharp as I thought. I needed better skills. I started to attend seminars, reading all the books, listening to the tapes and began my journey of personal development. I was still in the restaurant industry having a pretty good life just not what I wanted. I also fell away from the networking industry as I did not understand the nuances of being an entrepreneur.

Years pass and I was re-introduced to the networking industry by a very successful attorney in Las Vegas where I currently reside. The company is a great company that has helped a ton of families become financially free and out of legal and identity theft troubles. But, there was a problem with the field leadership and communication issues, so after a year and a half of menial success I decided to let that company go. I'm glad did because in order to move on to the next you must let go of what's behind.  I cultivated a strong relationship with a real leader. I was introduced to a brand new company that is organizing the natural products industry the way that Google organized the internet. The opportunity that I have been searching for is here.

2. What made you want to start a business and what is your mission?

The reason I have been wanting to be a part of this industry, "start a business" is because of the challenge. The challenge to become the person I have been sent here to be. My mission is to help as many people that want my help become the person they are meant to be. Whether we are in business together or not I want to help raise the vibration, conscience of people and the planet by being a better person every day. The network marketing industry is perfect because it is a personal development business wrapped up in an incredible compensation plan. The more you give, grow and help others become successful, the more successful and prosperous you become. That is my theme to life. Help more get more.

3. What inspires you? What keeps you motivated daily to keep growing your business?

The things that inspire me are people who overcome physical challenges. That's another reason I love sports so much. I get motivated by seeing others not give any excuses and never giving up on what they want to accomplish. I like watching the "My Wish" segments on Sports Center. It is where children get to hang out with their favorite sports star for a day and have their dreams come true. Truly brings me to tears almost every time.

4. Do you have a mentor? Who is it and why? Do you believe it's important to have one?

I have several mentors: Jim Rohn, Les Brown, Tony Robbins, Curtis Jackson, Brian Tracy, Sean Carter, Barack and Michelle Obama, and Oprah Winfrey. Just to name a few. I find myself gravitating toward great people. I love seeing the confidence they exude. It lets me know that no matter how bad life seems to be you can always make a change and get on a new path. Mentors are very important, they are the teachers who come along and show us that there is a way and they say let’s work together until we figure it out. A great teacher will not only let you know that you are in the mud but, they also throw a line to get you out.

5. What would you tell someone who wants to get involved in your line of business but doesn't know how to get started?

I would tell someone who wants to get in my business to be prepared to be disappointed by people that you think want your help but don't know how to ask. Adults have a strange way of saying something to appease people they love, instead of being mature and learning to communicate and deal with their problems. Their problems usually belong to someone else, if you know what I mean. I cannot say that I have not done the same, I just wanted to take personal responsibility for the only thing that I can control, me. If you can master your emotions you can make a lot of money and have a lot of friends.  You can get started in this industry by finding someone you trust or you can contact me and I will share how to be on my team. Go to wannafollow.me/brian, watch my partner on YouTube, then you can call me at 702.755.2647 and leave a message. This business is super simple but it will require hard work for the next 2-3 years. But if you follow the system you will never have to work for anyone ever again. We are the best of the best and we want you to join us at the top.

6. What advice would you give to someone with an entrepreneurial spirit?

If you have an entrepreneurial spirit know that you will have moments of great joy and massive disappointments. The secret is to discipline your disappointments and delay your gratifications. You must know that what you are doing is very admirable and should be looked on with pride because the entrepreneurial spirit is what built this country.  If it were not for entrepreneurs we would not have electricity, houses, airplanes, computers, or any other convenience way have today. Entrepreneurs create jobs, solve major problems, invoke a different mindset in the way we view the world and how we can make it better. What a great way to live.

INCREASING YOUR CIRCLE OF INFLUENCE

As a new leader, visionary or entrepreneur, your sphere of influence is your power circle. Influence is all about the people you connect with constantly. If you don't have one then you aren't leading. If you aren't sure whose in this circle you are leading the blind. The goal of all leaders should be to increase their circle and cater to the interests and needs of their circle of influence.

As a leader you should have a team who is dependent on your vision and leadership to guide them. This is your sphere on influence. Your energy is dedicated to the visions, the mission, and your team. You should know what is most important to that circle and how you are reaching them. You need to know how your circle receive information best and how frequently you need to contact them to keep them motivated.

team_leader.jpg

To tap into your sphere of influence think about this:

  • Who is currently in your circle of influence? Who do you currently connect to consistently? Do you share the same values, career, problems? What attracts you to one another? Think about if this is the group you need to sell the vision you have. If not begin to think about who you need to add to your circle.
  • Who would I like to include in my circle of influence? Maybe there are a group of professionals who you'd like to market your vision to but you aren't currently. You have to study places they frequent and who they tend to gravitate to. You've got to do what you need to, to grab their attention and once you've got it give them all you've got. They need to leave understanding who you are, what you do, and why they should care. Think about this carefully before approaching new influences.
  • What is most important to them? Know their values and principles. Know what problems they have, what makes them tick, and where they go to de-stress. You need this information to target and position yourself to be on their radar. Once you are speaking to them you have a few speaking points of their interest, and you can now transition into telling them more about you and what you do.
  • How can I communicate what I know to that circle of influence? Once your initial contact how can you stay in contact with them. When you exchange business cards you can ask if they'd like to know more about the topic you discussed and get permission to add their email to your list. Now you have targeted exactly who you need to have on your list and you can win them into your circle of influence!
Learn to follow your circle and they will learn to follow you!!

Have you heard of this television show? I have been anticipating the debut of this show on the Centric Television Network, for a few weeks now. It's a reality TV show highlighting the life of a few  millionaires (Chyna Bethley, Dorothy Cook, Helen Dela Houssaye, Bryant & Deborah Huff, Robert & Nicola Jackson, Kenny & Chante Lloyd, Lidia McKinney, Erika McQueen, Erwin & Twiler Portis, and Stormy Wellington). I know, I know. Sounds like every other reality show in existance, but this one is different... It's different because these millionaires didn't inherit their money. These millionaires aren't has-been actors or associated with Hollywood. These millionaires didn't even get their money from growing a successful "bricks and clicks" business. These millionaires are the result of building successful Network Marketing businesses. Or in other words, Multi-level Marketing (MLM), or Direct Marketing business. Urbanham.com says, these millionaires earned their money "...in a relatively short period of time and at relatively vibrant ages". The purpose of the show (besides showing off the lifestyles of these network marketing business owners) is to launch a contest between the millionaires to find  and groom the next successful business owner.

Turns out, Amateur Millionaire's Club (AMC) has been brewing for a few years and it finally debuted on Saturday July 7, 2012. This show was in true reality TV fashion, including "unscripted" drama, events, and the lavish lives of these millionaires. BESIDES all of that, I really enjoyed the message being sent that Network Marketing really works and ANYONE can do it.

My dad hit me up to the Network Marketing game about 10 years ago. The simple business model, compensation plans, and low start up fees (in comparison to a franchise) is what caught my eye. Ever since then, I have been in business somehow through a Network, Direct or Internet Marketing company. Along with the other services I offer, this business model has just been the best choice for me. As shown on the AMC, Network Marketing is a very lucrative business. Especially as a first business model. Not only do you OWN a business, but you learn key business skills along with marketing strategies, all with a team of people that are really looking to see you succeed. Because if you succeed, they succeed! Recently, I have been exploring the world of internet marketing. It is just like network marketing except you do mostly everything ONLINE. It is very convenient and you get the same results, if not better! It is definitely a good business model to look into to supplement your current business. You can find out more here => YouCanAlwaysCancel.com

After watching the first two episodes of the Amateur Millionaire's Club,  I enjoyed seeing what these people have done for themselves and how they are still on their grind. It is great motivation to actually witness the fruits of the labor of those in the same position as yourself. Stormy Wellington stated in Urbanham.com that, “There was a point in my life when I understood that I was the creator of my own destiny and I knew that I had to get myself out of the (debt increasing) situation that I was headed towards".  If you have not had a chance to catch this show, I encourage you to do so, or check out a few of the millionaires on Youtube. You will  definitely learn SOMETHING.

"Referred to in Success Magazine as a group that spreads wealth, reaches new heights, and creates purpose driven opportunities; the Amateur Millionaire’s Club is vastly redefining wealth in the African American community as the world knows it" (Urbanham.com).

I speak to authors regularly to help them organize their writing and create publishing plans that fit their goals and economic status. While one of the biggest barriers to self-publishing is usually funds, the second usually is lack of information or research. Traditional publishing is nice if you have the patience for it and don't mind letting someone else take over, but for those who like be in charge here are a few good reasons to self-publish, as well as some major pitfalls.

5. No Rejections! This is one that resonates with every author. No one likes to be told no, especially if there is not a clearly identifiable problem with your manuscript. While this is a perfectly good reason to go the self-publishing route, which will ensure your publication, rejections are a motivation for some authors to improve on their work.

Pitfall: Without an honest, third-party assessment of your manuscript before publishing, you can end up with a sub-par product that destroys your reputation as an author.

How to Avoid It: Find a professional editor to provide you with honest feedback. Some have a process for this type of review, while others charge an hourly fee. The goal is to not only get feedback, but also suggestions on how to resolve your issues. Companies like EverFaith Press provide a Rubric with their manuscript assessments which allow you to see your problem areas and how you can fix them.

4. Editorial Control. This perk of self-publishing is great for authors who like to be in the know. You have the ability to interview and select your own editor, or at least set the parameters for success and their interaction with you.

Pitfalls: Selecting the wrong editor by going for the lowest cost only. Another big mistake is ignoring your editor. If you have selected your editor wisely, it is important that you take the time to weigh and value their input.

How to Avoid It: First, make sure that you request a sample edit. Any editor that takes on your book without first reviewing your manuscript is no one you should work with. They need to see your manuscript to determine if they can help you or not. Second. when selecting your editor, have a conversation with them about their editing style and how they work with authors. Vibes are not sufficient, but if you combine your "personality assessment" with their assessment of your manuscript and sample edit, you will have all of the pieces needed to make an educated decision.

3. Design Input. Many traditional publishers work on your design for you, and your input is limited if allowed at all. When self-publishing, depending on how you go about it, you are able to veto covers you do not like and creative control over the design concepts.

Pitfall: Design input is only a plus if you have options and are working with a skilled designer. Using a self-publishing press can be a benefit here, because they typically make deals with quality designers based on book quantities to get you the best pricing. When approaching the same or similar designer, your costs can triple and push you towards a cheaper more sub-par choice.

How to Avoid It: Look for promotional specials when you review the work of graphic designers, and make sure that they have experience with creating at least 5 book covers for print publications. Don't hesitate to interview them, and if you really don't have the time to do the legwork then visit small presses like EverFaith Press and Believers Press. They both have contractors who can provide sample work from established designers for you to choose from.

2. Higher Royalties. It's good to get paid, and it's even better when you can set your own rates. This is the number 2 best reason to self-publish, because you see an immediate return on your investment. It takes a while to recoup the publishing costs, but to many authors it's worth it.

Pitfalls: There are four major pitfalls here 1. Not setting your own royalty rate, 2. Setting your rate too high to reinvest in your work, 3. Not setting your royalties aside for personal use and 4. Not using the book revenue to reinvest.

How to Avoid It: Being a smart business person is one of the key skills you will need to be a successful authorpreneur, but it's not something you can learn overnight. The quick lesson (or reminder) is that you have to both pay yourself and set money aside to further your book marketing plans. Creating your own contract to set your royalty rate lets you make a little money back from your work, while reasonably setting aside the remainder for a business account. You can save that money and use it invest in any future book plans that you may have.

1. Access to Final Files. There are no major pitfalls here, and honestly It's the most important reason to self-publish carefully. Many companies are happy for you to pay them to produce your work, and are only satisfied if they can keep you coming back for more. They force your hand by not providing you with your final files so you have to go through their more expensive channels for any print needs. EverFaith Press has the advantage on most self-publishing companies here, as it is in their standard agreement to provide the final files to their authors. They keep you coming back because their print costs are one of the cheapest in the POD world, and the turnaround time is phenomenal.

Pitfalls: If you do get a copy of your final files, make sure not to corrupt it! If you do not have the knowledge of InDesign or whatever layout tool they use, do not try to figure it out using your file. If you destroy it, you most likely will need to pay to have it recreated.

How to Avoid It: Maintain a back-up copy of all publication files, then make a back-up of your back-up. Preferably, you should store your files on a Cloud drive and on an external drive. This protects your investment and ensures that you have a copy of all final files for future changes or editions.

These are just a few good reasons to self-publish, and there are many reasons to traditionally publish as well. In the end it is up to you the author to decide what will work best for you.

bigstock-variety-of-detailed-horizon-25105949.jpg?width=360The right business branding strategies could spell real success for your business. What convinces people to invest in you or your products or services is how well they know, like, and trust you --- branding positions you for this.

What is a Branding Strategy?

Now hear me on this, a brand is not just about your logo or a name, it represents your complete business identity. It is an essential part of the startup process for any business. And if you're already established without an intentional strategy, it's time to get one in place.

Having branding strategies can provide the fundamental steps and it will help identify the most valuable tools to create a powerful business brand. In general terms, a strong brand is one that people recognize and believe to deliver quality. Have you ever found yourself at the store choosing one product over the other because it is the more recognized or trusted brand? I know I do. For example, there is a certain type of soap I always buy because I have come to expect it keeps my skin moisturized, smells great, and doesn't melt in the shower. I know when I see the box on the shelf that it's the brand I recognize and trust.

Recently, I did a survey and one of the comments was this:

"...what I see always is your name and that spells 'quality'"

That's the kind of response that shows your branding is on the right track.

It is a branding strategy's objective to identify what could turn your business into a trusted brand name. How do you influence people to trust your brand and its reputation? What should you do to communicate the objective and mission of your company? What is the message you are trying to send out to produce loyal, ideal customers? A sound business branding strategy will aim to find answers to these questions so you can establish a brand for your company that would excel in the market.

Creating Your Business Name, Logo, or Website

Coming up with a name for your business goes hand in hand with creating a logo that will identify your company. When it comes to logos, always opt for something that represents you in a unique way. Logos will be used over and over again in your advertising and marketing campaigns, so it must be easy to recognize.

For starters, think of a logo that will readily connect with consumers about the nature of your business. Choose images that are associated with your business and perhaps the products they represent.

TOOL ALERT: One of my favorite logo creators? Try Logonerds (this is my affiliate link, and I use them for almost everything).

Coming Up With Slogan or Tagline

Once you have the logo you want, think of a slogan that will reinforce the message you are trying to communicate to your market. As long as you keep this part brief and straightforward, then this can be an effective branding tool for your business. The tagline canserve as an additional touchpoint connecting to the main message you are trying to deliver. The more connected the message, the more likely you get the edge over your competitors. Use this to highlight the unique experience or service that customers will be able to have with you.

One advantage that you can have by including a tagline is that it is not permanent, unlike the logo. So if your company later decides to employ a new marketing strategy, you can readily adapt your tagline to highlight this new marketing plan.

Applying Colors and Images

As with logos, colors and images can be used to establish the identity of your business. Colors depict a corresponding set of emotions as well. So you need to carefully pick out exactly what type of color you are going to use in your logo so it is aligned with the image and personality of your business. Try to conduct a little bit of research about the different qualities of color types so you can determine exactly what best to use for your company.

Integrating Differentiators In Your Services

When communicating your company branding strategy into the market, highlight the services that only you can offer. If you can guarantee a service that none of your competition can, then you create a differentiator that draws more people into your business. An example of this would be a time guarantee on your delivery services, if you're in the graphic design business.

Learning how to effectively employ these key business branding strategies will help boost your company's marketing efforts and get you that much closer to the success you want.

"Good plans shape good decisions. That's why good planning helps to make elusive dreams come true." Lester R. Bittel

Recently, I offered a marketing plan review as a door prize for a local business group. When I approached the winner to exchange information, she whispered that she didn’t have a written one; she had it stored in her head. She then asked it a marketing plan was even necessary.

Should Your Small Business Have A Marketing Plan?

Absolutely! In fact, as a small business consultant, I've encountered numerous clients who repeatedly make the same mistake… failing to have a plan ‘business or marketing’ in place.

In a recent survey, I asked 200 respondents, ‘of the many issues facing their businesses, what common road blocks hindered their business growth.’ An overwhelming 32% said ‘No Marketing Plan’ was a potential reason for lack of sales and growth.

Why Marketing Plan?

Well, a marketing plan is a road map that details a route you should take to successfully promote and expand your business. It is critical to the success of a business, in fact, to all businesses! If a small business wants to achieve its potential, a marketing plan must be implemented!

Marketing is more than just ordering business cards or creating a flyer, it’s how you communicate with your current and potential clients. It is important to get your name out in the business community and differentiate your products and services from that of your competitor. If you don’t market your products or services, how will people know that you are a serious business owner or worse, in business? With a marketing plan, you will have a game plan in place.

A marketing plan is an integral and valuable tool for determining success of your business and the overall direction that your product or service should be taking. It should:

  • Clarify the impact and results of past marketing decisions.
  • Elucidate the external market that a company is competing.
  • Include deadlines for meeting those targets.
  • Prepare a budget for all marketing activities.
  • Set objectives and provide path for future marketing efforts.
  • Require accountability and measures for all activities.

7 Key Components of a Marketing Plan

Market Research

Gather information about your target market to include competition, business and industry environment.

When researching, answer the following questions:

  1. Who are your customers?
  2. What do they want or need?
  3. What is important to them?
  4. Who are your competitors? What are their strengths and weaknesses?
  5. What is your businesses environment, locally, regionally, and nationally?
  6. Is your industry doing well?

Target Market

Potential customers who have issues that or problems which your products or services can fulfill. Generally, people in this segment possess common characteristics and a relatively high tendency to purchase a particular product or service. Included in a target market are demographic, geographic and psychographic characteristics.

Executive Summary

A brief summary which includes the main points of the plan; generally shared with people you approach with your plan, such as investors or lenders who may want to read a synthesized version to determine if they are interested in it before taking the time to read it in depth.

Situation Analysis

The evaluation of operations to determine the reasons for the gap between what was or is expected, and what has happened or will happen.

SWOT Analysis

A formal outline to identify and frame a company’s’ growth opportunities; SWOT is an acronym for an organization's internal Strengths and Weaknesses and external Opportunities and Threats.

Marketing Strategy

A process that allows a company's to concentrate its limited resources on the greatest opportunities to increase sales and achieve a sustainable competitive advantage.

Budget

Estimates tied to specific allocation of revenues. A budget is required to have a successful marketing plan.

  • Yearly marketing budget
  • Expected return after investment
  • Breakdown of expected expenditures

In conclusion, as you can see, a marketing plan serves as your road map. It is critical for the success of your business. If writing a marketing plan seems a little intimidating, click here for FREEtools to help you.
