I believe the process of questioning is one of the greatest skills a business woman can have when it comes to staying in touch with how your business is performing and how you are doing as the CEO of your company.Asking yourself the right questions and finding solutions and answers to them will not only help you to stay on the road of being real with yourself, but it will also help you to see the necessary changes that need to be made for business growth.Below are 12 questions you can use to start the evaluation process:1. Have I completed a current cash flow analysis to measure my business financially?2. What are the weak areas in my business that need improvement?3. Have I implemented a consistent marketing strategy?4. Is my marketing strategy working?5. What is my sales ratio (the # of prospects you convert into customers)?6. Do I stay “sticky” (in consistent communication) with my current customers/clients?7. What skill sets do I need to improve in as a business owner?8. What business services and/or products do I need to eliminate?9. How are my competitors marketing?10. What is the latest information and updates about my industry?11. Does my business support my overall vision and goals?12. Am I willing to make the changes necessary to help my business to grow?Ask yourself the above questions on a quarterly basis and Keep records for comparison and positive changes. Also, create your own questions that will help you to better evaluate yourself and your business. Once you have identified processes that are not working positively in your business, it will be important to make a sound decision on how to eliminate or change them.About the Writer:Trina Newby is founder of Women About Biz an online small business education and connection network just for business women. Talk about missing out on something truly delicious! Believe it or not I’ve been talking about trying Sushi for quite some time now and haven’t given myself the chance to do it until recently. My sister-in-law Gina R. called me the other day and invited me over for some girl talk and mimosas and low and behold took me for my first sushi experience.

Too Excited!

I was just talking with my Mom, she called to see if I was stressing out about this coming weekends' event. (our cooking demo with Real Men Cook) and I told her calmly that I wasn't and really you would think I should be with all that's been going on.In order for me to be able to serve people samples I would need to prepare all the ingredients ahead of time in a commercial kitchen, which I no access to. My husband may have to travel to California for his boss this week so he will miss our event. ( still up in the air on that) The kids and I will have to cram in my Mother's small car and drive to Plano which is 30 to 45 min away @ 6 AM on Sat. Our demo should only last for 30 min so we should be good on that. So for some reason I'm not stressed @ all! I gave it to GOD and I'm letting him work it out! So why stress, right? Wish us luck, this is just another amazing opportunity that may lead to another bigger opportunity.

Leave disease and illness in 2008, renew your mind daily on The Well-Side.For many years I suffered with several illnesses and was told that it was normal. Then I realized the importance of food and how it can heal the body. I released my ownership of disease and illness and decided to choose Wholeness. I can hear my body more clearly; I make better choices, and live with the respect of self and others. So I ask you, “What are you possessing?” On this last day of 2008 make the choice to renew your Total Body-Consciousness daily by making choices that add to you.You no longer have to live a life where food is your enemy.Tips to come to The Well-SideAche or pain - find the root cause of the issue before using medication to mask the symptom.Proactive - ask questions when you visit your care provider, know your body, never take possession of a diagnosis, seek options to make an informed choice to eradicate the cause of the illness.Self-Love – respect yourself enough to get the proper rest (no just sleeping), take time to spend alone to meditate/pray, be honest with yourself and others, know when and how to say “NO!”Leave the baggage behind – let go of foods you know are not working for you. Stop trying to convince yourself that this is the last time, find an alternative.Recreate – if you do not like your reflection change it. Stop receiving how others define you and create yourself for who you are (Be-come who you desire to BE). You make your own reality.Exercise – do it. Start small and increase but get started. Walk, jump rope, roller skate, run, play with your children, too many options for excuses. If you do not make these changes for yourself think of those who love and care for you, do it for them. Why shorten your life when you can live a long abundant life.“Total Body-Consciousness possess yours in 2009”Say this until you begin to live it “Wellness is Mine in 2009!”

Are You Asking for the Business?

Meeting one-on-one with prospective clients can be an effective marketing tool, but you must do one important thing; don’t forget to ask for the business! The purpose of an in-person meeting is to establish trust, relationship and sincerity in a personal manner. As businesswomen we often enjoy the social aspect of talking with others so much that we often forget why we are meeting. To remedy this challenge, below are six ways to stay on track and get the business you deserve!1. Clarify why you’re meeting. When scheduling an appointment, make sure that the prospective client you are requesting a meeting with knows exactly why. It’s important that they don’t think they are coming to a social meeting.2. Know your prospect’s needs. If you don’t know the services or products your prospect needs, it’s important not to schedule a one-on-one meeting until you do. This should be done during the follow up call after you’ve provided information about your services/products.3. Prepare a short agenda. It’s important to maintain your focus with the help of a list of no more than 3 points you would like to share during your meeting. Writing your agenda on an index card or small notebook really can keep you on track.4. Don’t do all of the talking. Allow your prospect the opportunity to share information about their business and to ask questions they might have about your products or services.5. Ask the right questions. “How can I help you?”, “What can I do to gain your business?”, “How soon are you seeking to purchase this (name of your product)?”, “When would you like to get (name of your service) started?” Don’t allow fear to hold you back from asking for the business!.6. Save some time for socializing. Some communications experts say be polite and socialize first and ease into the sales part of your meeting. However, it can be awkward to socialize and then out of the blue break into the sales portion. By socializing last you both of you get a chance to relax and get acquainted with one another more and end the meeting in a comfortable and meaningful manner.Implement the above suggestions, ask for the business and see the difference in your one-on-one meetings!Trina NewbyWomen About Biz"If You're A Businesswoman, You Belong!"

THROUGH THE FIRE

Do you remember the book Iyanla VanZant wrote titled Faith in the Valley? That best selling book, which I believe was her catharsis, inspired and motivated countless people. Consider the founder of MADD – a woman who used her grief as a catalyst to save the lives of an incalculable amount of people. These are just two of a myriad of examples of people who used misfortune and personal tragedy to benefit mankind. Many of us have learned early in life that no one likes to be around people who make a habit of verbalizing their worries and complaints “no one likes a worry wart” is the adage that I best remember. A few of the other adages that have shaped my life’s conversational patterns are: “Keep a stiff upper lip”, “Silence is Golden”, “Successful people know how to keep private matters private” and one that I believe is universal: “Keep your business to yourself”.My cherished readers, I believe that our growth and success in life is a direct reflection of the lessons we’ve learned from people who were not too proud or afraid to share their personal triumphs. Information is a key proponent of growth. Be it intellectual, spiritual, physical, psychological . . . information is a stimulus, a catalyst, an activator. There will ALWAYS be nay Sayers in the world. No matter what you do or how you do it, there will be people who criticize, minimize, and ridicule not only your actions but your intents as well. We are always sharing information either with our words and actions or our silence and inaction. I herewith encourage each and every person reading this message to share with others the transformational lessons you’ve learned during the fires in your life. Your teachings may not only help someone through their personal fires, they may also save others from enduring needless fires.Being our brother’s keeper requires us to share information – not necessarily tangible goods. Remember teaching a person to fish is infinitely more valuable than giving them fish.
